Journal Goals, a photo by libookperson on Flickr.
For some of you who may have read my previous goal updates, I used to do it on a monthly basis. I figured that sometimes, it takes more than a month to realistically accomplish some goals, so starting April, I'm doing my goal update on a three-month basis.
How fast time flies! I am due for another update again. Let's see...here are my goals for the last three months:
April to June - Stepping it up for fitness
The waist to hip ratio, is a tough one. Particularly because I am already hesitant to lose more weight. I don't want to overdo the weight loss, so I am thinking of what to do with the extra flabs around the middle. I try to do some abdominal workouts now and then, but I still have to work on consistency in that aspect. Like I said before, I hate crunches.
Exercising...well, on good days, I think I do more than the 3x per week target. It's not your regular high intensity workout. My routine mostly consist of walking, push ups on the table, moving lunges with weights, back leg kicks, dips and sometimes the abs routine. What I have noticed is that I am firming up on the thigh part again, which is great! I think I have lost muscle mass around the thighs when I stopped my Tai ji classes. Now, it's getting more defined, thanks to the lunges and the horse stance. I'll write more about that last part in another post, as I think it merits a longer explanation.
That's it for now...but I have to set goals for the next three months so, putting on the thinking hat for a while.
April to June - Stepping it up for fitness
- Maintain weight at 116 lbs (minimum at 115 lbs and maximum at 118 lbs)
- Improve waist to hip ratio (WHR)
- Exercise at least 3x a week, concentrating on strength training and toning of muscles

Congrats sis! It's a tough goal, though. I'm just lucky to have a speedy metabolism and I can eat whatever I want, as much I want, so gaining weight is my problem because I tend to lose weight so fast even if I'm now underweight. With the height of 5'7, I'm only 110lbs! Whew!
ReplyDeleteReading stuff like this keeps me motivated! I try to workout at least 5 times a week at the comfort of my room and usually does it every morning (around 5am) before I go to work. You may want to try Barry's Bootcamp or Turbo Fire. :)
ReplyDeleteEven with a speedy metabolism, I may have to watch what I eat because of my health condition. I agree, it's a big challenge to gain weight. I was once on that end when I was a kid. Now that is reversed but not too much :-)
ReplyDeleteBootcamp and Turbo Fire seems too challenging for me at this time...but maybe when I am more fit, I'll try that. Thanks Ethel
ReplyDeleteI wish I can have the same goal as yours. I can't find extra time for that *sigh*..
ReplyDeleteMommy Maye (http://momayes.blogspot.com/)
wow, congrats ms. aileen! you really put a lot of discipline to achieve this
ReplyDeletei'm not really into exercise, on weekends my brother and i just jog around UP, yun lang, hahaha
but we ensure to eat healthy foods everyday
wow. good for you that you have this monthly goal. my husband and i have this 2012 wishlist, the things we want to accomplish within the year. the monthly thing is actually cool.
ReplyDeletegood for you... me.. I'm dying to squeeze even to breath on my scheds.. but thanks for the inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteKeep it up with the exercises! Once you feel that you need less effort in your usual exercises, add repetitions ;)
ReplyDeleteI like this idea of updating goals monthly. It keeps your focus on the goal.
ReplyDeleteGood for you. Keep it up. I tried doing the Zumba, but my dancing partner which happens to be my SIL is always busy doing house hold chores, so it's really hard to do workout alone. Much fun if you're with someone. Looking at your ticker on the sidebar, I think you still have 2 more waist line to loose. Goodluck!
ReplyDeletenow that you mention it, i'll add exercising thrice a week too! good luck to both of us! :D
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good reminder... thnx for sharing sis, I might do this too.. Keeps motivation indeed!
ReplyDeleteI need to set monthly goals for myself too so I'll be diligent in doing it!
ReplyDeleteang galing mo naman sis. parang gusto rin magset ng goals for losing weight.
ReplyDeletewow this post is inspiring as I'm also working out (Zumba) 3x a week to stay fit and healthy...hope I can continue doing so amidst my hectic sched:)
ReplyDeleteWow, we have Zumba ladies up here (Jhari and Gene). I considered joining that fitness class but I'm kind of more inclined to martial arts...I probably suck at dancing also lol!
ReplyDeleteinspiring, i am also planning to weight some hopefully I can before the end of the year :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool way to do this..
ReplyDeleteThose extra flabs are always the hardest to get rid off..
I'm going back to exercising everyday. I used to, but decided to reduce it to 3x a week. But I noticed that suddenly, the frequency is getting less and I'm losing the habit.
ReplyDeleteI'll try to do it every week again.
I meant everyday.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...muntik ko na makalimutan Sis, I've read nga pala from one of your posts before that you are having a monthly goal and that time, I felt like wanting to follow you. But of my hectic schedule nakalimutan ko na naman. Thanks for reminding this. I love this idea. :)
ReplyDeletei should do the same monthly check on my goals, congrats on maintaining your ideal weight...i'm struggling on that part...
ReplyDeleteYou religiously workout more than I do! Good for you, D Aileen! ;)
ReplyDeleteYour workout routine is great and inspiring, even for me, who consciously stay fit, to fit into my swim suits LOL!
Ready for a 5-10km run?
Inspiring! As they say, it's harder to maintain the weight loss than losing it. =)
ReplyDeleteOh shocks! Exercising? I'm so guilty... Haven't done it for a while and I know I should do it. I'm being so unhealthy! Good luck po! :)
ReplyDeleteEvery year ata tumataba ako slowly but surely. haha!
ReplyDeleteMust do something to get rid of the excess weight. Your posts are an inspiration, sis.
Congrats for the number 1 list! YEY! This is true we really need to do exercise everyday including walking for a healthy living. Also guilty for the FRIED thingy Hehe.

I've looked around your blog and it just inspired me to lose weight. I was at 110 before having a baby. How did you start it? That's always my problem. I'm not after the 110 mark but I need to lose weight (in a healthy way).
ReplyDeleteBy the way, congratulations for achieving your goals! And goodluck on your next goals! I love looking at your tickers, its urging me to do the same. ^_^
I have to confess i don't exercise regularly, i admire you for doing great, good luck in everytime and stay healthy!
ReplyDeletewow! i wish I can lose weight too..I need to discipline myself. yikes!
ReplyDeletethis is inspirationals thanks
ReplyDeleteDefinitely inspiring! I should also make a monthly goal list as well!
ReplyDeleteOh wow... you inspire me to lose weight.;) I've always wanted to start exercising but I'm just too tired by the time my rest day comes. Pag ako nakaalis ng GY shift mas maayos ko na siguro schedule ko.
ReplyDeleteAng galing mo naman sis sana ako rin.
ReplyDeleteYou are very organized and goal oriented. Am I right? I should ask tips from you of how you stay consistent with your goal keeping. I need to ask you this also, is Hip-Hop Abs ok? I just follow the routines on DVD. :-)
ReplyDeletegood for you, i hope i can have that will to be able to become fit and healthy again.
ReplyDeleteNice! Goal setting is a good start.
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle. Am no expert with fitness routines. From what I know about hip hop abs is it's a good cardio exercise. Experts say the first step is to lose the excess weight and cardio can do that. When you're down to your target weight, then it's time to shape up naman...toning and muscle building. Of course, we also have to watch what we eat. :-) Keep it up sis, particularly if you see positive results, no matter how small. It's not always just the scale and tape measure thingies...sometimes, you need to gauge how you feel about certain activities too.
ReplyDeleteThe tickers remind me not to give up...sort of motivation stuff for me hehehe. How I started with this? I got frustrated with the rising blood pressure. I simply decided not to be a helpless victim of my genes or lifestyle. I know that my choices have a lot to do with what happens to my overall health.
ReplyDeleteSo true...that is why it is important to form good habits and not just go into fad fitness. I'm aiming at things I can do with consistency..so I'm not into the get thin, trim , or fit FAST.....I feel the rebound would be harder to handle.
ReplyDeleteI could never look as hot as you in swimsuits...so I'm making realistic targets sis hehehe. Speaking of that run, I just might be into sooner than I planned...I just hope I'll be fit enough...
ReplyDeletethose are some of the goals i've set for myself, as well. unfortunately i was not able to follow through + now i am stuck in a rut! i often times lack the energy to exercise + stretch + would busy myself munching away unnecessarily....
ReplyDeleteanyway, am sure there is still hope even for the most undisciplined ones like me! here's to achieving your goals for the next month + to living a healthier life! :)
Oh my, I love this list. Your goals are somewhat similar to mine, though I don't really focus on my weight but on my measurements. Is it just me or it's really hard to lose 5 inches of tummy fat?
ReplyDeleteYou might want to incorporate mung beans too. It's packed with proteins and a cleansing effect. Give it a go. It's cheap and has been one of the secrets of Indian yogis for their weightloss programs. I blogged about it. Check it out if you got time. =)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tin! I will check out that post :-)
ReplyDeleteI am not looking to lose weight, just drop this belly fat. I am thinking of moving my exercise routine back to be the first thing that I do when I wake up in the morning.
ReplyDeleteGood job, sis. Your blog truly inspires your readers.
ReplyDeletewow your dedication is inspiring. saka na ako. hahaha
ReplyDeletelike you, i think my goal is to not afraid of doing mistakes
ReplyDeletegood job! i hope i can start eating healthy...
ReplyDeleteThanks sis!
