It's a long weekend we're going to have, starting today. I'm going home to the province this afternoon, after work, to be with my mom and the adorable nephews. Ahhh three days ahead just staying at home, no work to do...Woohoo! And how tempting to do this for the next three days...

...except of course that we don't have a hammock in the front yard (maybe I should get one). Besides, my mom is a busy lady, even when she's just at home most times. She's already up and about before six in the morning, already doing chores. So, I cannot afford to be just lying around or hanging around like a sloth.
Long weekends, to me is an opportunity to rest and recharge. It's a much needed respite from work duties and the stress of the work routines. And to really get away from it all, no computers and internet for me as well. So, I will officially sign off this afternoon. It's our bonding moment so I try to do away with distractions, and the internet is like a black hole where I could get suck in for hours hehehe.
I'm thinking what I'll do with the kids. I'll probably try to get them to exercise or jog with me. I'll attempt again to teach them some basic moves in Tai ji. Oftentimes though, they just find it funny. They start giggling or goofing off before finally leaving auntie all to herself to finish the routine. I guess Tai ji is boring for kids. They want an action-packed kind of martial arts. Anyway, whatever we do, am sure we'll simply have fun. With a three-year old toddler around, life is never boring. It's actually kind of stressful sometimes to run after that little imp...but it's the kind of stress I like, specially when he laughs. I can't help smiling and laughing along with him.
So, long weekend......here I come!

ReplyDeleteIt's a great weekend. Spent time nagging the two older nephews to study, study, study because they have exams this week, while I played with the youngest. I guess the kids were the ones who were stressed by the aunt lol!
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a hammock back home under the Langka tree we used to have. But we put it down kasi inanay eh, sayang :( Hope you enjoyed your weekend.

Long weekend indeed! I hope you enjoyed every minute of it. I thought I could take a time off, relax and some "me" time but with 2 boys + hubby, my weekend turned out to be a stressful one but on a positive note, haha!

stress keeps our immune system strong, but too much stress can also lead to problems emotionally, physically and mentally so i agree with you! we really should destress once in a while :)
ReplyDeletelike, like, like your hammock!
ReplyDeletehope you enjoyed your long weekend
Hope you had a relaxing and fun weekend at your place together with the people close to you!
ReplyDeleteWe will have another long weekend! I hope this time I can get a good rest.
ReplyDeleteMommy Maye
Is Tal JI a form of martial arts? That would be nice and fun to teach young kids. Hope you enjoyed the weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Tess! It's Tai ji (sorry about the font, I adjusted it so the "i" doesn't show up as "l") Yes it's a Chinese martial arts form. However, kids may not like or appreciate it. Most kids want the action-packed kind of martial arts like Wu Shu, Taekwondo, or Karate.
ReplyDeleteit was a long vacation. I know all of us enjoy this once in a blue moon long weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou're working away from home pala Aileen! Happy to hear that you got to see again your Mom and nephews. Have fun! Stay safe. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't found time to rest with that long weekend. :D I was out and going to different places.
ReplyDeleteIt's another long weekend. How are you spending it this time? I bet you'll be busy with your new blog.
ReplyDeleteah well, did you have fun last weekend? It's another 3-day weekend now, but again I won't enjoy it as much. Still looking forward to have some rest and do something fun though. :)
ReplyDeleteI bought a hammock before and put it in our laundry area. I'd hangout there and read a book, but the my nephews who were really small then would invade my quiet time and insist on getting on the hammock too. hehe. Eventually it was moved downstairs in the common area of the family compound until it got worn out by overusage by the kids. hehe
Thanks! You too Ron!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I'll never have peace time at a hammock because my nephews would beat me to it lol!
ReplyDeleteI actually don't spend much time online during weekends. It's my time to do other stuff...tomorrow, I'll jog with friends at Luneta or CCP complex. I hope the weather would be great.
ReplyDeleteYes sis, I get to see them twice a month only. Tomorrow is run day...just a regular jogging day hehehe...no marathons yet
ReplyDeleteI did, Farida...it's great to be home. :-) And as always, I find it hard to go back to normal work life lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks Reese! I did....but I have no hammock...wishing for one
