Races and marathons are usually scheduled on the wee hours of the morning with the latest starting at past six for short races. But who says runs are just for early risers? The Kislap Butil Night Race organized by University of Sto. Tomas will start at around six in the evening this coming Sunday, the 23rd. This will be an interesting change in the usual morning run. I wonder how I would fare. I'd be coming along with my colleagues who were with me during my first run but another one would also join us. Hehe another recruit in the running craze. Non of us are Thomasians by the way, but it's a good thing they opened this to the public.
We'll be getting our singlets probably this Thursday and I am already excited to try it on. It looks nice in the pictures, black and green for the 5K run (that's my event) and white and green for the 3K run. I wonder if the green part is the kind that glows in the dark. Now that's cute! The race kit also includes glow in the dark ballers and glowsticks. No timing chips though, so I got to take note of the time I start running so I'll know if I will beat my record for the Milo run. It's not much of a record but we all start somewhere. We were informed that there will also be a mini concert after the run. Interesting...but I don't know if we will stay around for that. Well, maybe a little peek to see who's performing.
This run aims to raise funds to help send kids to school. I believe that's a good cause, so we joined this event. If you're interested in joining races, you can find a comprehensive list of upcoming events at Takbo.ph.
I just pray that the weather will be good this coming Sunday, particularly in the evening as I am not quite excited to run in the rain at night time. That could be a rather chilly experience. Well, let's just hope for the best.
I really hope that one day we can meet in one Fun Run Event. Continue getting fit !

This a good fund raiser and a healthy one too! It'll be a new experience for you to run in the evening but just enjoy it. I know you will anyway. Good luck! :-)
ReplyDeleteI know people who jog at night, so I'm guessing it's not much different? Perhaps a little more humid as you start at 6PM, but should get cooler as you run and the night goes deeper. Good luck and I hope you beat your record!
ReplyDeleteGood luck sis.. hope you'll enjoy the run..:)
ReplyDeleteHi Sis! Apology for not being able pa to recognize the award that u passed on to me. Was really really busy. Babawi ako, promise! I am happy that you are able to continue your goal running. I could feel that you are always on a look out for some activities like this. I hope you'll be able to achieve that healthy state of your body really soon! God Bless!

ReplyDeleteSis, so did you run!Yan ang masaya, evening haha! I wouldn't dare do it here in Baguio though (creepy, lalo na along Loakan Road and John Hay na punong puno ng white lady urban legend and pine trees that do look scary at night. Samahan mo pa ng black crows (all crows are black pala, btw). Got the picture?Sure na sure, mameemeet ko ang goal kong 10 kilometers in 30 minutes haha (takot lang wahahaha)
ReplyDeleteI wish I'm fit enough to join such runs. I'm not really sporty but definitely like something to do to get myself more fit.

Oh, so that's why there were plenty of people there this afternoon. I was there earlier and saw the crowd. I should have bothered to check it out.
ReplyDeletegiven the chance, I would really love to run but since it's really hard for me to wakeup in the morning.. Evening concept will be great!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good time to run or compete in a race. A nice time to run, especially for those people who can do the run in the morning.
