It's funny that a lot of these favorite quotes about health that I try to live by may look like those kinds of pep talks about motivating one to exercise. But when you get down to thinking about it, these are more than just motivational quotes for one to get moving...they are actually about life. And isn't it the reason why we try to be healthy? It's for us to live quality lives, live longer so we can do our purposes in life.
First on my list is the principle of doing things one step at a time. See? I even got it there on the title header.
Oh, I've got all the excuses I could think about, really. I realized though, that it's all just in my mind most times. Willpower after all requires effort, right? Like breaking out from one's inertia...it's always tougher at the start, whether it's pulling yourself up from that bed or couch, or starting out a new life.
Oftentimes, we tend to look around, comparing ourselves to others that we fail to see ahead and move forward. Most times, our greatest enemy is ourselves. In running, as in life, we look forward and carry on in our own pacing until we reach the finish line. Trying to outdo others for mere show is really not a good idea.
Most of us want to live as long as we can right? That's why we strive to be healthy. But living longer is more meaningful if we live for what matters most in life. It should not be just about longevity but living a life with a purpose. It's also about seeing that the journey is as important as reaching the goal.
And finally, my life verse: " Be still and know that I am God." It's been a life of turmoil for most of us, but I have learned and still learning to be still in spirit, and not just on the outside, but more so on the inside. I know I can go on with life no matter what happens, knowing that I have a great God.
Strength is not only in doing those squats, or running a marathon...it's also about a quiet spirit, and a heart that beats strong because it doesn't get bothered easily. Peace comes in knowing who to put your faith into, and it's a stronghold that nothing could beat. And then, again, what you see on the outside, is a reflection of what's inside.
