So you have decided to embark on a quest to become more active and eventually become fitter and stronger. That's great! Congratulations! I've been there, and at some point, I also got tired of just sitting around.
If you're just starting out with an exercise regimen and you have not done any kind of activity that can be considered exercise for the past few months, it would be wise to sit down a while longer. It's an ironic thing to do when you're very much ready to pump up those dormant muscles, right? Indulge me a bit.
Regardless of age (because health conditions do not choose age), I think that before doing any exercise regimen, one must have a health check first. You'd probably say you're feeling great and can start any time and do any activity you want. Sure, why not? And no one's really going to stop you from doing that, just as much as nobody could get you off that chair besides yourself. But I'm assuming that it is for health reasons that you have decided on becoming more active. It is a pro-healthy decision to have a fitness assessment first. When you've cleared that out, then by all means, pump some iron, run, walk, whatever.
But do this one thing first. Go have a health check. These links below would be great places to start with:

Sis, I have decided to do a minimum of 10 minutes work out a day. Nakijoin ako kay Daddy A sa lifting nya. Just to tone down lang naman because we are cutting carbs na e. Hopefully I can survive and be healthy.
ReplyDeleteMommy Maye
Sis, that's great! 10 minutes a day, that's almost an hour in a week (if you take out the weekends for rest). Good start! It feels energizing, right?
ReplyDeleteYes sis. It's either in the morning or after work. Before I am experiencing back pain, nawala sya :) Hopefully hindi ako tamarin, hehe.. Daddy A is really serious about exercising e.
ReplyDeleteGusto ko ring gumaya kay Mommy Maye! I hope, sis, you can also write about how to incorporate exercise when taking care of babies and toddlers. :-)
ReplyDeleteSis, just a bit of an idea...I think, you either let them sleep or play while you workout. Short workouts would do, like that of Mom Maye. For toddlers, depending on how well they can comprehend, you can teach them to exercise...but don't teach yoga or pilates yet hehehe...just the basics. Might be a good idea to start them out early with fitness.
ReplyDeleteWe sure are having our health check, our annual physical exam is scheduled. It is a good way to know our health standing even once in a year..then exercise to the max!
ReplyDeleteYes, to the max!
ReplyDeleteAgree with this! Health check and fitness assessment first before hitting the gym. It's a must for all of us.
ReplyDeleteYeah, so true sis! Consult your doctor first before getting into some fitness programs. As for me, I do the zumba dance at home 2-3 times a week. I believe this wont do any harm, hehe!
ReplyDeleteThanks for these links. Will check how ready I am. I might (yes, might) start running this month. (Ikaw talaga maalala ko when it comes to running.)
ReplyDeleteGood for you sis! Enjoy running!
ReplyDeleteAs long as you're not getting uncomfortable shortness of breath, you will be fine sis. Ayan naman pala, may exercise naman eh. Go Zumba!
ReplyDeleteYup! Better be err on the safe side.
ReplyDeleteWow Sis! Umpisa na ng Challenge... super busy ka na this month hehehe.. goodluck!
ReplyDeletegood luck to your challenge, i know you can do it
