Yoga was part of our curriculum back in high school. In fact, we combined it with basic gymnastics, doing Yoga poses on the balance beam. I was still pretty much flexible at that age and I can do most everything, except the head stand. We didn't do that anymore.
I wonder if I could go back to that practice. Maybe...because some people start to learn in the adult years, and having tried that before, at least I know what to expect. I probably don't even need to enroll in a class, as there are a lot of videos online to learn from.
There are just so many benefits to practicing Yoga that I cannot help but include it here in the series. The benefits, you could read at length from these articles:
A good question now is which type of Yoga should I learn? This infographic from yogatrail.com could give us an idea for starters. What do you think?
Loving the chart. You get to find the perfect fit for you. Cheers to Good Health.
ReplyDeleteI found mine! it is Gentle Yoga. :) I hope I can learn this.
ReplyDeleteI will be attending a yoga class for beginners next week. I'm super excited na! Thanks for giving me an overview. I still don't know which yoga style to take, maybe after the first class. ;)
ReplyDeleteI took the short route from the START button...so I ended up with Hatha Yoga...and I have no idea what they do there lol!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your classes! :-)
ReplyDeleteI really want to do Yoga. Medyo nahihirapan lang ako kasi wala ako yoga mat. I just used a foam e and it slips, hehe.. I want to include this in my morning exercise routine. Yes, I am serious na lalo na pag nakikita ko gaano kalaki mga braso ko sa photos, haha... Nga pla, any type of exercise to tone down arms? TIA
ReplyDeleteMommy Maye
I really want to do Yoga too, pero I'm hesitant if kaya ba ng katawan ko, because I have a very stiff body talaga walang flexibility.. hayz!
ReplyDeleteSis, look it up sa series na ginagawa ko, I have yun sa biceps at triceps...Don't worry, you wouldn't grow bulky arms with those exercises. You will develop the muscles in that area and have more toned arms but not like the bodybuilders, unless you take supplements like what they do. When you develop muscles, you will look leaner and trim.
ReplyDeleteSis, I have also lost a lot of my body flexibility, but I think that flexibility can be regained or developed through constant practice. Stretch stretch lang hehehe...
ReplyDeleteI did ashtanga yoga around eight years ago and I remember I never had any back pains and aches. I also did yoga for pregnant women when I was preggy with Adrian. I want to go back to it later. Para kasing lately I am so impatient I can't go through the proper inhaling exhaling stuff.
ReplyDeleteyogis have wonderful bods. mommy maye invest in a yoga mat. mine was years ago pa and i dont use it for yoga lang. pati regular exercise. i got it at sm at 299 noon (parang offer nila noon for every xxx -cant remember -of purchase
ReplyDeleteI started with basic yoga then yoga for strength then energy yoga.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Same with Iza Calzado :-) Ikaw na sis! Mas fitness buff ka kesa sa kin eh. You should go back to that. Me, however, I got to take it easy. The breathing part makes me light headed hehehe.
ReplyDeleteI wish. those were the stuff I used to do, unlike the stuff I always do now- which is eat hehe. Dunno. when one hits the big 4 0 , aside from proving that Newton's gravity theory (or whatever hehe) is correct, anything that you eat, di na-dadigest. The cupcake goes directly to your thigh or that old pooch (yung hanging belly ko hehe)
ReplyDeleteAko sis, I think my metabolism slowed down somewhere age 25 or 26. I was sooo skinny all throughout my life. Now am loving the little bulges here and there....joke! I would like to be trim and fit even in my 40's which is just around the corner na lang hehehe...
