For the past couple of weeks, we've been doing a run down of all the major muscle groups that need strengthening and we have also discussed the merits of developing a strong mind. Having a strong will enables us to accomplish what we have set out to do in the first place. We had a "feel" of the exercises as some of you may have tried some of the workouts. But we must remember, that this endeavor of becoming fit and strong should start with a purpose in mind.
Our common goal is to become fit and strong. That is where the similarity will probably end. Each of us has a different purpose in mind as to why we would want to achieve this goal. The goal is great, but what would keep us going for that goal lies in the purpose. It is our answer to the "Why" question.
The purpose, whatever it is, takes this endeavor to a depth beyond what can be seen. So it is not only a matter of having a buff body and the kind mental toughness that we want. When we know why we are doing this, it becomes more meaningful and somehow, it would cement our resolve to see this through.
So now, I encourage you to sit down and ponder on what your purpose may be. Write it down, make a poster to pin on a wall or put it on your computer wallpaper...whatever it takes so you remember. I cannot stress the importance of this well enough. This purpose would be what you will always get back to when you lose focus, when you feel like giving up and giving in to those excuses.
Always go back to the purpose, because that is your stronghold and foundation.
This is Day 28 of Steps to Fit and Strong series.
In everything we do, we should have a goal/purpose and a target! I never realized that for keeping fit... maybe, that is the main reason I fail!
ReplyDeleteWhen we start setting out on something, anything, the first thing we should have in mind is what it is for. If we cannot satisfy that simple question with a valid answer, then it's probably not worth doing at all. If it's just on a whim, we could fizzle out midway.
ReplyDeleteI think I should have a clear purpose din, because I keep breaking my goals...
ReplyDeleteYou are. Having a goal or a purpose motivates us. Un nga lang minsan siguro wrong purpose lang kaya minsan nagfafail.
