My Itchy, Sneezy Nose

The insides of my nostrils have been itching for a few days now.  And when the itching gets unbearable, that's when I have sneezing spells.  If only I could reach inside my nose and scratch that itch.  Arrgggghh... So now, I am feeling really out of sorts.  And as I have mentioned before (almost a year now hehehe), I cannot go pill popping anymore.

My alternative to antihistamines, decongestants, and nasal sprays is just to get plenty of water and sleep.  And water myself a lot, I do, very religiously.  Sleep helps a lot since I am relaxed and you don't sneeze when you sleep (at least you have to wake up first hehe).  The moment I wake up though, I'd be sure to give a minimum of 5 big sneezes (with gusto!).  Sometimes, it feels like my nose would pop out from my face, but it's actually such a relief with that automatic body reflex to flush out allergens.  It's a good thing also that I have my own office cubicle so I can sneeze all I want and nobody has to run away from my direct assault.

I've been reading this info on Medications to Avoid with High Blood Pressure.  I didn't realize that a harmless looking eye drop medicine could also pose some risk for me.  Well, at least now, I know.

So far, with colds and some eye irritations, I get by with splashing my face with cold water.  That actually feels good and I guess safer in the long run.  As much as I can do the natural cures and let the body's defenses (immune system) kick in, I think I'll stick to that.

Achooo!  (excuse me).

  3. I'm spared from this, I'm glad. But my mom who is hypertensive is very sensitive to even a small amount of dust.

  4. My nose is rather choosy on the kind of dust. It's house dust I'm most allergic to. That's why I need a face mask when cleaning the house or else...

  9. With the kind of weather we have now, there is really high risk of catching respiratory problems.
I heard one of natural way to strengthen our respiratory system is by exposing our back in morning sunrise for at least 15 minutes for kids and 30 minutes for adults. But be sure you are not going to take your bath right after exposure. Better to do it after you had your bath.

  14. I don't know sis. But even when I was a kid, I'm already prone to colds (due to virus or allergies). I've always been weak in that area. When I developed hypertension, I only knew that I have to be wary of meds for colds and allergies.

  17. Few days ago, I got sore throat and stuffy nose. I am not fond of taking medicines so I think that makes it worst aside from working late at night. So I avoid sleeping very late at night and have a enough sleep. Plus I do cardio exercise every morning and drink ginger tea. Thank God, I'm pretty much okay now.

It's the season of cough and colds na kasi. The weather is becoming cooler na so get well soon sis.

  19. Aww, that's so not good. Take lots of rest and water. I know, it's easier said than done, pero still, grab some rest when you get the chance. And right, water water water! :-)

  20. My aunt has allergic rhinitis. She is sensitive to dust particles. Do you have the same? I read somewhere that diet can lessen the allergy.

  21. I didn't really have a doctor's diagnosis, but reading up, it looks pretty much like allergic rhinitis. I think when the allergen is identified, the best action is to avoid subjecting one's self to that. I don't know of any diet that can help with that...perhaps a diet that boosts the immune system can help. :-)

  22. I've been getting more sleep lately...I mean I can't help it actually. Sleep has always been my therapy, whether feeling ill or emotionally ill-disposed hehehe. Too much water naman disturbs my sleep kasi I had to pee several times and that's not good also.

  23. Hope that you get well soon.

  24. Get well soon! :) Hay! Lately, too, I've been sickly. Oh well... that is life! Take care!

  25. I also have allergic rhinitis, but I'm not sure what triggers it. How about you? Is it the environment which causes the sneezes or probably food? I also don't like taking too much antihistamines. Yes, water and sleep should do the trick.

  26. i hope you're feeling better now. i just recovered from a nasty flu and i still have dry cough. *sigh* perhaps it's the body's way of telling us to take it easy.
